Featured Sites of the Month
Here's your monthly mintrubbing supplement - if the mint rubbing journal isn't enough for you then check out this month's batch of recommended sites. Strangeness, coolness, and at times complete madness guaranteed:
- John Titor's Story - was he a brilliant fraud, or an ordinary soldier from 2036? John was sent back in time to retrieve an IBM model 5110 to fix the Y2K+36 bug. We'll let you decide on this one.
- Sandals & Socks 4 Ever - a much needed site dedicated to people who wear sandals and socks. A must have for the IE Bookmarks list of any serious mint rubber. Get a certificate of recognition if you nominate someone or think you deserve it yourself.
- The Romanian Stencils Archive - I don't know about you, but we just love these things and the people who make them. Some of the stencils are pure genius. Yes, call us insane (we actually are, so no hard feelings) but that's the way we feel about this stuff. The archive is posted on
2020.ro - a site which makes a pretty interesting statement. For more urban art don't miss Urban Haute Couture.
- Pacmanhattan - real life pacman played on the streets of New York. Or, as the site puts it "Pac-Manhattan is a large-scale urban game that utilizes the New York City grid to recreate the 1980's video game sensation Pac-Man." This is just too good not to see. Can't wait for real life Doom.
- The Riot Wheel - a huge, heavy motorized single-wheel vehicle. Check out the photos, the thing looks way cooler than any vehicle we've seen in the past 15 years. For another interesting single wheel vehicle check out this monocycle.
- Masturbate for Peace - "There's no greater antidote for war than love. Feelings of hatred and distrust form the necessary basis of armed confrontation. Replace those negative feelings with love and you're halfway towards resolution of any conflict. However, any real love must start from within. You can't love others without loving yourself first."
- The Principality of New Utopia - "A new country that has never existed before, which will be built in a moderately tropical sea, a perfect climate, a paradise: Utopia!". Once again, we'll let you decide on this one. In any case, don't forget to check out the page of Princess Maureen. Also check out
The Dominion of Melchizedek - the "rapidly expanding, post-modern state" which comes complete with a stock exchange, a university and a TV station and which was designated as a "a fictitious country created by a father/son conspiracy who are multi-convicted felons" by the US Government.
Downloadable files in PDF Format
After receiving a suggestion from our enthusiastic supporter Keith, we put together several pieces of must-read mintrubbing material in PDF format, for easy downloading:
- Grow Your Own Mint Practical Guide
- Practical Guides for Mint Rubbing Techniques
- The Mint Plant and Its Uses
The files are also available in the "Download" section of the main mintrubbing.org site. Thanks again to Keith for this great idea. We might add more PDF files at some point.
Messages from Fellow Mint Rubbers
- "I am still learning mint rubbing techniques but I am thrilled to have
found RMRA site. It's so inspirational! And I hope ... some day (when I
grow up, perhaps) I will master the technique...I believe
that membership in RMRA (is it possible? because I want membership
diploma with my name on it) will help me better understand Romanian
culture. It has some similarities with Croatian culture, we have great
potential for Mint Rubbing, we have lot of people practicing it without even
acknowledging that they are infact angaged in mint rubbing.
I am also somewhat surprised to see that mint rubbing culture in
Croatia is very alike with MR culture in Romania. I believe that has
something (everything?) to do with socialism. Ok, not everything, that's for
sure because we know that MR is older than socialism. But it is important
for development of MR to acknowledge that socialism made fertile ground
for improving old techniques and innovation. Infect, we are still
enjoying benefits of that era.
I am sure you'll read more about that . I just do not know when but
that subject preoccupies me, I can tell you that much. Every day I learn
about at least one person whose life is governed by MR principles.
But the problem remains: although MR techniques are practiced by
majority, especially by our public structures (government, parliament, civil
servants and other employed by state), MR is not acknowledged as a
dominant factor in public and private life of citizens of Croatia. What a
waste, what a shame! So there is lot to be done!
" (Gordana, Croatia)
- "Sirs, You have changed my life. In my 47 years on this planet, I have searched for true enlightenment. Rejected as a child, I grew into an unruly teenager, toyed with hard drugs, snorting Harpic and once mainlining Jeyes Fluid.
I tried religion, converting from Church of England to Judaism, the circumcision hurt, but I failed to find a true meaning to my life on this planet.
Shiatsu, Feng Sui even the ancient Welsh art of Llap Gogh failed to help me find my way and then today I discovered the RMA and immediately saw my future was there between my fingers.
Initial mint rubbing was a disappointment, because I had not truly grasped the gospel you preach on the web site and so I learned that a jar of mint sauce will never live up to the texture and trued rewards that can only be harvested from real mint.
Your web site has also given me a wonderful idea for assisting the meditational efforts of the RMA student, the mint scented candle, a design for which I shall be working on tomorrow.
Thank you for changing my life." (Keith)
Mint Rubbing quote of the month
"de ce oare ma plictisesc si mai tare cand ma uit la aberatiile de pe aici? d'aia, ca imi place!!!"
(posted on the RMRA forum. translation: "why do I get even more bored after reading this junk? because I like it, that's why")
Don't Forget...
...lots of special projects and issues in the months to come. Do not miss.
