4. randomness

philosophical-type ramblings are nothing new to this site. so, first, let us point your attention to some of our earlier work, namely, a little article entitled on life and published in november 2002.

click on the above link and read it now.

the essence of the article is that there's a lot of randomness in everyone's life. so even if the article looks a little pretentious (man, did i write that?), the truth of the matter is that you can never ever program your life to be exactly the way you want it to be. that's the beauty of it. you basically have no control over things like the people you end up going to school with, and subsequently having as friends, sleeping with and/or marrying; the exact job you're going to get, and basically the exact amount of money you'll make and the things you're going to do with it; the unavoidable car accident; the chance meeting with the love of your life; the list goes on and on.

no one wakes up one day planning to have a car accident, to die in a plane crash or to contact the flu. just as well, no one wakes up one day planning to get their dream job or to meet their dream lover on that particular day, and actually having it happen. things just happen. randomness.

people usually loathe randomness. everyone wants their neat little life, with as few surprises as possible (well, yeah, except the "surprise" birthday party). but, we as mint rubbers, love randomness. so why not take it a step further, and actually add randomness to your life?

what am i talking (or, actually, writing) about, i hear you ask. we'll give you assigned reading to answer that one.

The Book is called "Omul Zar", is written by one Luke Rhinehart, and is published in Romania by Editura Trei. Read a brief description here. You can get it from your favorite bookstore, such as Diverta in Bucharest Mall, or you can order it online from the publisher's website - details here. The book is also available in English. Find it on amazon.com and order it here.

if it makes any difference, this book somehow reminded me of fight club. don't think mass conspiracies and double personalities, but think re-analysis of current human condition. cynical humor is present as well. read it in two or three days.

So, do you really need to go and get it? Of course you do, don't be stupid. When was the last time you read a good book anyway? The book's tagline is This book can still change your life. I'm still pondering that one, but this is indeed a book with shit you can really apply in practice. tempting shit, too. go get it. (dice can be found at unirea shopping center ground floor).

that's it for today. now close this window and come back tomorrow for you next dose.
