6. sushi
if you're a respectable person, then you like good shit: good food, nice clothes, good books and movies, stuff like that. well, let's stick with the good food for now. as we all know, there isn't that much good and diverse food available in romania, especially when you're looking for something new - let's face it, a 100% mint-only diet is sometimes not enough, even for the hardcore mint rubber. so let's work with what we have.
have you ever had sushi? if you have, then that's it. close this page and come back tomorrow for your next dose of mint rubbing. if you haven't, then keep reading.
sushi is the japanese sanck made with raw fish and rice, all rolled up in seaweed and eaten with soy sauce (and some other assorted japanese stuff that i don't care too much about). sounds weird? that's what i though, but, man, is it good (if you want more background sushi info, check out this site).
let's just skip the details for now. where do you get it? now, if you're pretty much anywhere outside romania, the answer is quite simple, as sushi is commonly available in many countries. not in romania, though - you will only find it in selected japanese restaurants and it doesn't come cheap either.
the place i go to is called Asami Japanese Restaurant - that's in Bucharest, on Calea Victoriei 17 (actually located on a small street between Victoria department store and that ex-Bancorex, actual-BCR building on Calea Victoriei - more details on sapteseri.ro or your favorite going out guide). the stuff is good - not exactly 100% the original stuff, but close enough to be damn good. the atmosphere is decent and the prices pretty high - expect to pay around 30 bucks for two, and remember we're talking snack here, not a full fledged lunch. you can also have it to go - start with 6 tuna rolls and you can't go wrong.
man, this stuff is so good, that i'm gonna go and get some right now. bon apetite, or something.
that's it for today. now close this window and come back tomorrow for you next dose.
