new mint product - x-it mints

here at mintrubbing.org we pride ourselves with the dedication we put into our job. as dedicated mint rubbing professionals we are always on the lookout for quality mint products for sampling, testing and presenting to our readers.

allow us to introduce in this brief article the latest find of our field research team: the x-it line of mints - "trendy consumer products with high sales and margin potentials" (description on official website).

in our quest for the perfect mint we sample tens of products monthly. as you know, very few of those ever make it in the pages of the legendary mint rubbing journal(tm); the reason for this situation is simple - most mint products found on the market are shitty. it's as simple as that. x-it mints are one of the few exceptions: small yet surprisingly strong, sugar-free (an essential feature of a good mint) and cool-looking, the x-it mint will surely delight both amateur and professional mint product consumers alike.

first, a quick strenghts/weaknesses analysis. strenghts of the product include: appealing flavour, sexy packaging ("distinct diamond-cut designed metal tin in exclusive mat colours"), refreshing effect, no sugar, 4-item range to appeal to various tastes, no need for frequent replentishing (100 products in each box). weaknesses of the product include limited distribution in Romania and geekish "100-mints-floating-freely-in-metal-box" sound when carried in pocket.

the product comes in four flavours:

the red box features berry mints with green tea, our personal favorite product of the group. combining the delicious taste of berries (ineptly translated in Romanian as minidrajeuri fara zahar cu gust de stafide) with the freshness of mint, this product will surely appeal to a wide range of tastes, and is highly recommended to beginner mint product consumers; recommended dose: two mints. our next personal favorite is the green lemon mints with green tea. this version combines the freshness of mint with the refeshing taste of lemon and the strong flavor of green tea, leading to an excellent choice for all types of mint product consumers. recommended dose: two mints.

the silver box features ice mints with guarana and offers strong pure-mint taste aimed at pleasing the discriminate mint product consumer. this is the no-nonsense mint boosted with a shot of guarana. recommended dose: one mint. finally, the black box features strong mints with guarana and has a licorice-like tase that did not appeal to our sampling team. recommended dose: half a mint.

x-it mints are distributed in romania through lukoil gas stations. please note! the product described above is the mini mints series created by x-it. the same company also offers big mints, chewing gum, bonbons and other assorted products. we believe that the mini mints create the most value for consumers.

the product features many added values, as mentioned on the official website at www.x-it-dk.com: sugarfree with xylitol helps prevent acid formation in the mouth and helps prevent cavities; contains guarana, gingseng or green tea - well-known energizing and cleansing ingredients; and there's more: natural extracts, no fat, instant freshness (that's what we all need, right?), unique design and style, consumer friendly, consistent high quality in flavour and hardness.

finally, a serving suggestion from the friendly staff of mintrubbing.org: get one box of each variety, empty all boxes, mix flavours together and refill boxes with the ensuing mix (will take some time); keep boxes handy and enjoy a refreshing cocktail of mint flavours by consuming two or three mints at a time, or keep life interesting by having one mint at a time and never knowing which flavor will come next.

a critique of criticism

good old maslow had one lasting contribution to world science and culture: the now famous hierarchy of needs. in a nutshell this theory says that human needs get increasingly commplex once basic needs are fulfilled. in other words, having good living conditions is never enough, and people need to fulfill increasingly complex needs in order to be happy. complex needs include the need for esteem, for instance: the need for fame, glory, status, attention, reputation, appreciation and so forth.

this is all very good and esteem needs have played a crucial role throughout history, leading people to spend years researching and creating new theories, products, ideas or works of art. unfortunately there's a problem: not everyone creates, and people that are unable to create criticize the creation of others.

creation is a complicated process: it takes brains, patience, skill, research, work and many other ingredients that not everyone has, or not everyone is willing to put effort in. so i state that many people will choose the easier route and get their esteem needs fulfilled by publicly speaking against the work of others.

the degree of criticism varies - countries and societies have different values and customs. unfortunately, romanian society is one that features one of the stronger forms of the phenomenon described in this article. half a century of communism has left many people without many of the basic skills needed in a competitive society.

in communism the state was the sole creator of goods, theories, ideas, art and pretty much everything else; in a competitive society everyone creates businesses, theories, products, ideas or art. but the creation process is difficult, especially when you lack the skills - you need to learn, to adapt, to research, to discover, to make mistakes and to make things happen. add to this the neighbour's goat sindrome, and there you have it: a society bent on criticism.

criticism has proven positive effects, we all agree with that. it's criticism that pushes things forward at times, but this usually happens with constructive criticism, i.e. criticism that offers alternate solutions - once again a dead-end for most people, since offering alternate solutions means creating something as well, with all the effort needed for that. over-criticism, on the other hand, has a tendency to stifle progress.

creation, in all its forms, be it in business, society, politics, science or art needs to be encouraged. after 50 years of communism, we need to create a lot in order to catch up. this catching won't happen too soon, though. we'll all be caught in putting down everything that migh help us do that.
