"If someone is able to relate the mint properties, there is no doubt that he will also know
the amount of fish that swim in the Indic Ocean" (Wilafried de Strabo, XIth Century)
Mint is a creeping herb 30 to 60 cm high. It has many varieties. The most common is the
pepper. It grows in any kind of soil but prefers fertile and humid soil.
Its therapeutically
properties are digestive carminative, in cases of a flu or a cold, and for seasickness. The
infusion is prepared (in cases of flatulency, indigestion and fever.) This infusion consists
of putting a spoon of mint leaves in a liter of hot water. Cover it for 10 minutes (filter and
take small sips along the day.) The tincture may also be used. In case of nasal block, it's
used in inhalation. Put some leaves of mint in boiled water and inhale the vapor.
Another
interesting application is putting 50 grams of leaves in 1 liter of boiled water. Let it boil for 3
minutes low flame, filter and mix it in the shower water. It's good to be taken in the morning,
for it's stimulating. This herb is also used in food pastry and syrup. A delicious
combination is to put some mint leaves in pineapple juice.
